Course Description
The course is four sessions.
Level 1 - Children must be able to ride independently and without stabilisers
Day one is held in a non-traffic environment where children learn to carry out a simple bike check, safe start and stopping procedures, learn how to use the gears on their bicycles and practice signalling.
Level 2 - Children must successfully have completed Level 1 before progressing to Level 2
Days two to four children learn basic skills on quiet roads such start, stop, passing parked vehicles and right and left turns in and out of junctions.. They also learn about relevant road signs.
This course is aimed at:
9 to 15 year olds
Course structure
4 sessions of 2.5 hours
Learning Outcomes
Students will:Starting and stopping a cycle
Suitable riding positions including negotiating junctions
Road signs, signals and road markings
Respond to hazards

Things to know
- Children are expected to behave in a respectable manner and follow instructor's comments to ensure their safety and the rest of the group. The instructors reserve the right to withdraw a child whose behaviour puts them, other trainees and road users at risk. Parents will be contacted by the instructors.
- Roadworthy bike with two working brakes.
- All children must demonstrate Level 1 abilities before progressing further on the course.
- Your bike is required which should be roadworthy and have two working brakes.
- Your helmet should be undamaged and fit correctly.
- A drink and snack is advisable.
- Suitable clothing for the weather (suncream if weather permits)
- Correct meeting point and time.
